WWII Japanese Army Wicker Bento / Rice Carrier. Two piece wicker woven body. It is fitted like a army bento box. It then has a woven neat carrying bag. These were used by the soldiers to keep their rice fresh after it was cooked. If they left it in the mess kit it would go bad quickly. Will include a copy of a Japanese reference book showing this. Unfortunately all the text is in Japanese. Not many of these could have survived. Great shape.
